Haemorrhoids
Haemorrhoid treatment in Basel: gentle diagnostics and therapy in our dermatological practice.
What are haemorrhoids
Haemorrhoids are among the very common disorders of the anal (rectal) region: small nodules located in the transitional area between the rectum and the anal canal. In the early stages they often cause no major complaints.
Signs include
-
Blood in the stool
-
Itching in the anal area
-
Pain during bowel movements
-
Mucous discharge
-
Moisture
-
Anal eczema
How do they develop
Haemorrhoids develop as a result of enlarged veins in the rectal and anal area.
Contributing factors include
-
A low-fibre diet
-
Insufficient fluid intake
-
Sedentary work
-
Being overweight
-
Lack of exercise
-
Constipation
What can we do about it
First, depending on the individual case, we carry out various examinations:
-
Stool diagnostics
-
Digital rectal examination
-
Proctoscopy (examination of the anal canal)
-
Allergy testing
We then initiate a therapy individually tailored to you, such as:
-
Injections
-
Ligation of the nodules
-
Surgery
The methods are mostly painless or involve very little pain, so there is no impairment to your everyday life.
