Fungal skin infection treatment in Basel: diagnostics and therapy of mycoses affecting the skin, nails and scalp.

What is a fungal skin infection

A fungal skin infection (mycosis) can take various forms on the skin. It usually appears as reddish patches with scaling, often in the armpits and the genital area. However, brownish or whitish patches may also occur, for example on the upper body. Another form is nail fungus, which often manifests itself with brittle, discoloured or thickened nails.

How does it develop

Fungal infections are associated with imbalances of the skin, for example:

  • After antibiotic therapy

  • In diabetes

  • Injuries to the nails

  • Excessive sweating

  • Being overweight

Skin and nail fungus are contagious.
